The design-build team collaborated to deliver a new public restroom building at the Plaza entry of the San Diego Zoo. The project scope included a new ground-up, 450 SF masonry building to house a men’s and women’s multi-stall restroom facility, as well as the associated site work and new landscaping. There were limited construction and staging areas due to the need to maintain access for the public entering the Zoo.
The project required a high degree of attention to cleanliness, noise, dust, and pedestrian traffic to maintain an optimal visitor experience. This public restroom building is used daily by hundreds of Zoo visitors, as well as visitors to Balboa Park.
